Here’s a nice six minute animated video about The Soulquarians, a collaboration between Questlove, J Dilla, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, Common and more.
The alternative hip hop music collective came about while Questlove was working with D’Angelo on his “Voodoo” album at Electric Lady Land. As the duo were working on the album, Quest then also moved recording of The Roots’ album, “Things Fall Apart”, to Electric Lady. James Poyser and J Dilla joined the sessions and they were also working on Common’s “Like Water For Chocolate” and Erykah Badu’s “Mama’s Gun” simultaneously. Every album that came out of these sessions is an absolute masterpiece!
