A bit more than a year after her acoustic version of “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot”, singer Joy Postell delivers a new socially-charged song she wrote in May 2015, after she moved back to Baltimore from Los Angeles. The song is taken from her forthcoming album “Diaspora”.
In the video for “Consciousness” she embodies Angela Davis, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Celie Johnson from Alice Walker’s The Color Purple. Watch it above and grab the Free Download.
