Chicago-based American soul singer, songwriter and poet Jamila Woods shares a new song titled “Giovanni”. It’s inspired by poet and activist Nikki Giovanni and references her 1970s poem “Ego Tripping”. In a press release, Jamila said, “‘Giovanni’ is a song about owning & celebrating all the parts of myself. It’s about legacy and lineage, and how the love & strength of the people who made me makes me feel invincible.”
Alongside with the song she shares a short-film which she co-directed with Vincent Martell. Check it out above and download the song here.
