Some of you might know Brockhampton, the California-based hip hop collective consisting of several over the top talented artists being very much like-minded to the polarizing Odd Future Gang. A singer and rapper arising from this crew is Kevin Abstract, who is being seen as the founder and leader of the tribe. Kevin who is very public about being gay and thematizes it in his songs, now released his third solo album “Arizona Baby” underlining his equal skills as a rapper and singer.
“Arizona Baby” is pure pleasure to listen to. From smooth, sensitive songs like “Peach” or “Baby Boy” in which Kevin mainly sings to pure lyricism as in the self-reflective “Crumble” or turn-up tune “Boyer”, Kevin alternates perfectly between emotions and touching melody patterns.
